Strengthening Armenian-Chinese Ties through Music and Culture at Tsinghua University
On January 1, 2025, the Armenian Students Association of China (ASAC) hosted an exclusive reception for the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra at Tsinghua University, one of China’s leading educational institutions located in Beijing. The reception took place just before the orchestra’s performance at the Tsinghua University Concert Hall on the same day.
The event was honored by the presence of Vahe Gevorgyan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to China. He remarked that this occasion marked the beginning of a promising year for strengthening Armenian-Chinese relations. Among the distinguished guests were professors, faculty members and scholars of Tsinghua University. Sergey Smbatyan, the Founder, Artistic Director, and Principal Conductor of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, expressed his gratitude to Tsinghua University and the Armenians in China for their support, as well as to the Chinese audience for their warm welcome.
To add a cultural dimension to the event, Armenian students from Tsinghua University performed for the attendees, singing and presenting a brief history of Armenian culture in Chinese. Several students wore traditional Armenian attire from the ChinArmArt collection, further enriching the experience with a vibrant showcase of Armenian heritage.
