The Second Design and Aesthetics Academic Forum in China, hosted by Soochow University, was successfully conducted
The Second Annual Pan-Chinese Design and Aesthetic Academic Forum took place on April 27-28, 2021, at the prestigious Soochow University, located in Jiangsu province. This conference was an unprecedented event that convened generations of scholars engaged in discourses related to the past, present, and future of design discipline and aesthetics. The conference also focused on the teaching of design and aesthetics and their relations to people and the environment, as well as how the interconnections of these disciplines can positively impact people’s lives.
The event was significant, with the participation of over 70 academics and researchers from more than 40 universities and institutions. Notable among these universities were Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University, Nankai University, Shanghai University, Hefei University, China Academy of Art, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, Hunan Normal University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing Normal University, Jingdezhen Ceramics University, Fuzhou University, Guangdong University University of Technology, Shandong University of Arts, Shanxi University of Science and Technology, Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Wuhan University of Technology, Jiaxing University, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, Shandong Communications University, Changsha Vocational and Technical College of Civil Affairs, Xianyang Normal University, Chongqing Normal University, Shanxi University, Korea Science and Technology College, Changsha University of Science and Technology, Beijing University of Technology, Dalian University of Technology, Central University of Finance and Economics, Yanshan University, Donghua University, etc.
The participants had the opportunity to enjoy the serene and picturesque campus of Soochow University, which boasts of beautiful scenery and early 20th-century buildings. The conference featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and paper presentations, covering a wide range of topics related to design discipline and aesthetics. The conference also provided an excellent platform for participants to network and collaborate with other scholars and researchers in their field of study.
During the closing ceremony, the honorable academics decided to make the conference an annual event, setting a tradition that can enhance the quality of research and scholarly activity in the fields of design, art, and aesthetics.
